OVLC is currently planning a prescribed fire for restoration in collaboration with the local Prescribed Burn Association and the Ventura County Resource Conservation District at the Ventura River Steelhead Preserve. We have a burn scheduled in late May and need help preparing the site for burning on Friday, May 8th and Monday, May 11th from 8am to 11am. We need as many volunteers as possible, so I hope you can join us!

This is a great opportunity to learn more about prescribed burning, ecological restoration, and our local PBA!

What does prep look like?

We will use tools, primarily mcleods, to scrape lines into the fields to mark each section (see the photo below). We will also be adding stakes to additionally mark different sections. We will teach you everything you need to know on each day!
