TAKE A HIKE

Get Your Heart Racing

Are you looking for a solid workout with spectacular views of the valley? Then we suggest heading to the Valley View Preserve. Park at the Signal Street entrance to Shelf Road and hike what is affectionately known as the Fox/Luci’s Loop. This heart pumping 3.2 mile loop is a great way to start your morning or end your day. If you are looking for something longer these trails connect to the greater Los Padres Forest trail network.

Fun for the Whole Family

Looking to be immersed in nature right in town? Visit the Ojai Meadows Preserve. This restored wetland has easy going trails and several short loops. The trails are flat and accessible with posted signs with information about the preserve’s restoration, history, and wildlife. If you are a bird lover, or want to get out for a quiet stroll, this is the place to be.

A little bit of everything

In 12 miles of trails, the Ventura River Preserve has it all. Flat meandering trails that run through the river bottom, heart pumping hills to the top of ridges, and easy wide trails that wander through shaded canyons.

A favorite loop is to connect the Rice Canyon and Wills Canyon trails. Starting at the Oso Trailhead, this 4.5 mile trail is well marked and takes you through a variety terrain.

Docent Hike Program

The Docent Hike Program invites you to join our volunteer docents as they explore the beauty of OVLC preserves. Discover the valley's rich flora, fauna, and natural history on free monthly community hikes tailored to diverse interests.

Space for each hike is limited, so be sure to RSVP.
