Conservation runs on a longer clock than most things. The land we protect this year will outlast all of us, and the choices we make now will shape the Ojai Valley for generations to come. Fiscal Year 2026 brought that long view sharply into focus.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of this community, we reached our $7.5 million Land + Legacy Campaign goal. Rancho Cañada Larga, the largest conservation project in OVLC’s history, will be permanently protected and cared for forever. The campaign was never only about acquiring land. It also ensures that OVLC has the capacity to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by Rancho Cañada Larga while maintaining our commitment to exemplary stewardship across all our preserves.

Fiscal year 2023 (July 2022-June 2023) can be best summarized as a year of growth and planning. Early in the year we completed our new five-year strategic plan, that can be found on our website. Refining the organization’s mission: To protect and restore the natural landscapes of the Ojai Valley, forever; and putting forward a new vision: To lead the Ojai Valley’s response to climate change. The strategic plan lays out the strategies and the role for the organization to help secure a more resilient future for our valley. 

Fiscal year 2022 (July 2021-June 2022) proved to be an eventful year for OVLC that can best be summarized as building our resilience at an organizational and community level. Thanks to our generous supporters, OVLC has been able to grow our programs and conservation aspirations for the Ojai Valley. The fading of the Covid pandemic has provided opportunities to start getting together again. We see the few events of last year as being prologue to a much more active schedule moving ahead.
