National Trails Day

Help the OVLC maintain the trails throughout Ojai Valley on National Trails Day in the morning, then join us for a Volunteer Appreciation Pool Party in the afternoon!

We'll have a variety of projects and events in the morning, including trail maintenance and educational hikes - and everything will be family friendly, so bring the kids. Just be prepared to be outside for the morning, and bring some extra water, but OVLC will also have snacks and drinks available.

What We'll Be Doing:

We'll have a variety of projects and events in the morning, including trail maintenance and educational hikes - and everything will be family friendly, so bring the kids. Just be prepared to be outside for the morning, and bring some extra water, but OVLC will also have snacks and drinks available.

What You'll Need:

Please bring gloves and closed-toe shoes with good grip (preferably boots).
Additional recommended items include a small pack with water and snacks, pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and sun protection.


DOCENT-LED WALK — OJAI MEADOWS PRESERVE

When: Saturday, June 1 I 9:00 – 10:00 am
Where: Ojai Meadows Preserve, Nordhoff Kiosk
Length: ~ 1 mile
Difficulty: Easy/Beginner

Join OVLC Docents Jill Forman and Heather King on Saturday, June 1 for a docent-led walk at the Ojai Meadows Preserve (OMP). This short walk will start at the OMP – Nordhoff Kiosk and participants will meet at the main kiosk/sign at the trailhead. We will meet at 9:00 am and plan to return to the departure point by 10:00 am. Jill and Heather will focus on bird and native plant appreciation, in addition to sharing some of the history and OVLC restoration efforts of this particular preserve.

This walk is appropriate for all ages, but we kindly request no dogs please. Please wear closed-toe shoes, boots and pants are recommended, and bring sun protection, water, and snacks. Space is extremely limited and we often have a waitlist for these hikes. If you receive a spot, we ask that you please attend, or if you are unable to make it, you contact us 48 hours in advance in order to offer your spot to someone else.


VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION POOL PARTY:
Time: 12:30 - 5:30pm
Ventura River Steelhead Preserve

In the afternoon, we are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Pool Party at our Ventura River Steelhead Preserve to recognize all of the hard work of our volunteers over the past year. We will provide cold drinks from Topa Topa Brewing Co. and Athletic Brewing, delicious food from Jim and Rob’s Fresh Grill, good music, the magic and mind reading of Jerry Dunn, raffle prizes from Sespe Group and Topa Topa, and a mountain of gratitude. All you need to bring is a swim suit and a towel. We hope you can join us, and thank you again for contributing your time, energy, and skills to the OVLC!
