WINTERFEST OPEN HOUSE

The morning will start by the fire with coffee and pastries, then we will set out with OVLC Executive Director (and passionate birder) Tom Maloney to explore the Ventura River Steelhead Preserve. It promises to be a lovely morning to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season and experience this special place through the lenses of your binoculars.

Sun prints, also called cyanotypes, have been used to record the beauty of plants for over a century. Join OVLC Rewild Coordinator Claire Woolson to explore the native flora of the Ventura River Steelhead Preserve and create your own botanical sun prints to take home.

Celebrate the season with OVLC in the Hollingsworth Barn for a special holiday screening of Elf, complete with fresh popcorn, hot cocoa, and holiday cheer for the whole family.

Take a stroll around the preserve with OVLC’s Sophie McLean and Martin Schenker to search out native plants of the Ojai Valley. Along the way you will visit several different plant habitats including riparian, sage scrub, grasslands, and oak woodland and learn about native plant identification.

Gather by the fire for an evening of holiday cheer with OVLC. Savor a variety of cocktails, libations, and hors d’oeuvres as you enjoy lively conversation and the company of fellow supporters.
