Ventura River Preserve: Wills-Rice Canyon Loop
The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy is hosting a bird and nature hike at the Ventura River Preserve on Saturday April 26th at 8:30 AM. The hike will follow the Wills-Rice Loop trail and will be led by Peter Larramendy. You will be looking for both resident and migrating birds and learning about the plants and other wildlife that are found on the Ventura River Preserve.
Peter Larramendy was born and raised hiking around the Ojai Valley, where he fostered a great appreciation for the plants and animals of the area. After graduating from college, Peter moved back to Ojai to pursue a life that revolved around working with the plants and animals he grew up learning about. He is currently biology field technician for Channel Islands National Park.
Each year the Land Conservancy hosts thousands of nature enthusiasts including hikers, equestrians, school children and community groups on its Preserves. Whether a visitor, newcomer or longtime resident this is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the day with other nature lovers.
Meet at 8:30 AM at the Riverview Trailhead on Rice Road just south of El Roblar. OVLC will have binoculars available but bring your own if you have them. This is a 3 hour moderate hike on uneven ground so wear sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, and sun protection. Reservations are not required but are appreciated.
