A fourth generation Californian, Marilyn Clay Noad, painter and poet, has been a resident in Ojai since 1994 when she relocated from Los Angeles with her musician husband Frederick M. Noad. The daughter of a naval officer, she traveled extensively as a child and then later continued her travels with her British born husband. She attended twelve schools before graduating from UCLA with a fine arts degree. She has exhibited widely in both the US and England. Her current exhibition, (Lunaria), at the Porch Gallery, features mono-prints and paintings inspired by her beloved native environment. When first arriving in Ojai the thing that struck her most was the brilliance of the night skies, and for this reason her work contains cosmological references as well as botanical ones. Profoundly influenced by nature and the philosophical and metaphysical thoughts it inspires, she has included a book of her nature poems and prints which will be available at the gallery at the time of the exhibition in June.
