Annual Stewardship Director Hike & Picnic

Led by Rick Bisaccia – OVLC Stewardship Director

May 6,  8 am – 1 pm

Location: Yet to be announced!

** Hike is full **

OVLC Stewardship Director Rick Bisaccia will lead a limited group of hikers on a very special springtime hike. An avid hiker and accomplished outdoorsman, Rick has an intimate relationship with all of the trails in the area, both on the OVLC Preserves (he helped build many of them) and those in the back country. He will be taking the group on one of his favorite hikes to one of his favorite spots for a picnic lunch provided by the OVLC. Rick’s unique knowledge of the area’s plants, wildlife and trails coupled with a great sense of humor make this an adventure you can’t afford to miss.

Stewardship Director with his assistant Betty

Stewardship Director Rick Bisaccia grew up in Ojai and has been with Ojai Valley Land Conservancy since 2007. After serving as Preserve Manager for several years, Rick’s duties were expanded in 2014 under the position of Stewardship Director in order to oversee all preserve issues and concerns, maintaining trails, designing projects, rallying volunteers to expand what gets done, leading preserve nature hikes, and to take a more active, executive role in helping the OVLC function at a continuing high level. Rick has done many eclectic things in his life which have given him the skills to accomplish the broad-based tasks managing the preserves. He has worked as a college teacher, U.S. Navy journalist and general contractor – volunteering in between as an assistant scoutmaster, and member of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Team. He is a Certified California Naturalist and Wilderness First Responder.

This once a year hike is $15 per person.  ** Hike is full **  We will meet at central location and carpool to a yet to be announced trailhead. For more information contact Marti Reid at (805) 649-6852 ext. 2 or
