Join us for an herb walk on the Ojai Meadows Preserve with native plant guide Lanny Kaufer. Lanny has been leading “Herb Walks” in Ojai and the surrounding area for over 40 years. This interpretive hike will have an emphasis on edible and medicinal plants, those classified as “herbs” for their culinary and medicinal properties. Lanny will discuss the plants’ traditional and modern uses for food, home remedies, botanical medicine, survival, wildcrafting, landscaping, camping, crafts, ceremony and more.

You’ll learn to positively identify native plants in their natural habitats including those suitable for foraging. You’ll also discover their roles in the ecology of the area. The walk is timed with the OVLC’s annual Native Plant Sale and will begin there to allow participants to make purchases.
