10 am – 12 pm
OVLC Offices 370 W. Baldwin Road, Bldg. A4
Everyone knows that dogs possess a keen sense of smell and have been used for decades to sniff out bombs, explosives and drugs. Now ecologists are using them in restoration work.
Join Robyn Powers, Program Manager of Harvey Dogs, the ecological scent-detection program for Ecological Consultants HT Harvey & Associates at 10 am on Saturday, February 4 for a look into how the dogs are selected, trained and used in current conservation projects.
Robyn Powers is a senior wildlife ecologist and project manager in HT Harvey & Associates San Luis Obispo office. She has particular interest and experience in endangered species research and monitoring and in mammal ecology. Much of her work has been in California ecosystems, including the Channel Islands, coastal scrub and oak woodland communities, the Sierra Nevada, and Mojave Desert.
This All About Ojai event is free for members, students and teachers and $10 for non-members. Become a member today! A family membership is just $35 per year.
