Join us Friday, October 14 from 5—9 pm at the historic Ventura River Steelhead Preserve for an evening with legendary mountaineer and author, Rick Ridgeway, as he discusses the adventures from his latest book Life Lived Wild.

Rick estimates he has spent five years total time sleeping in tents, most of that in small tents pitched in the world’s most remote regions. “I say that not to boast,” he writes in his new memoir Life Lived Wild, “but to offer as a measure of time spent deeply connected to wildness.” In his presentation of photographs and video clips, Rick takes us with him from the first American ascent of K2 to the first direct crossing of Borneo to adventures on all seven continents. Along the way, Rick shares the lessons he brought from high elevations back to his life at sea-level. “The goal isn’t the summit,” Rick explains, “but the footsteps to get there.”
RICK RIDGEWAY is an adventurer, writer and advocate for sustainability and conservation. For 15 years he was a VP at Patagonia, and was founding chair of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the world’s largest apparel and footwear trade organization. Rick is a noted mountaineer. With three companions, he was the first American to summit K2, and he has done other significant climbs and explorations on all continents. He has written seven books. National Geographic honored him with its “Lifetime Achievement in Adventure” award. Today, he serves on five boards of conservation organizations. His memoir Life Lived Wild was released in October 2021.
