A Fond Farewell

The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy bids a fond farewell to Stewardship Director Rick Bisaccia. He has chosen to leave the conservancy and return to his successful contracting and building business, and we wish him great success.

In his nearly 10-years as the OVLC’s Preserve Manager and Stewardship Director, Rick has defined what preserve management means in the Ojai Valley. He has long been the face of the preserve system, and he’s worked tirelessly to bring the best quality outdoor offerings to our community. We owe a great debt to his service, and his contributions will not soon be forgotten. In his years at the Conservancy, Rick has been a policeman, social worker, construction foreman, trail boss, naturalist, artist, cat herder, janitor, and an important leader on local trail development and construction projects. Conservation has been a calling for Rick, and he built around himself a valued cadre of trusted volunteers and contacts with neighbors and government agencies. His phone number is probably on more speed-dial lists than anyone else in the valley. He leaves enormous shoes to fill, but his priorities and standards of care for local preserves will remain the priorities of the OVLC.

On behalf of all of us at the OVLC, thank you Rick! We wouldn’t have come this far without you.

The public is urged to contact the OVLC main office at (805) 649-6852 for preserve-related matters.
